Downtown Bonita Springs draws commercial interest
Downtown Bonita Springs draws commercial interest
About the redevelopment project
Bonita Springs has been working to redevelop its downtown corridor along a 0.84-mile stretch of Old 41 between Terry and Tennessee streets. Since November, the project’s chief contractor Wright Construction has been developing plans for the project to create a walkable “main street” downtown with wide sidewalks, bike lanes and roundabouts that will attract more people and businesses. Key design features of the $18.6 million project include medians, parallel parking along sidewalks and two roundabouts to improve safety and walkability.
They city is also working to bring in businesses, like cafes, restaurants and art galleries, among others, that would benefit from the heavy foot traffic they’re looking to generate.
Work on the $18.6 million project is expected to begin in September and wrap up in 2017.
